PCGH's conclusion on the AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE, including a look at the price-performance ratio based on the recommended retail price of 559 euros including VAT. The Radeon RX 9070 GRE goes on sale in Germany today, June 2, 2026. How many offers will actually be available at the recommended retail price is currently unknown; however, the strongest custom designs from board partners will undoubtedly break the 600-euro mark. The coming days will show how pricing develops.

Radeon RX 9070 GRE: Price-performance ratio
After examining the Radeon RX 9070 GRE's performance in both rasterization and ray tracing, it is time for a price-performance analysis. We have put the current performance indices in relation to current market prices and MSRPs, respectively, as of June 1, 2026.
Please note that prices are constantly changing, so this is only a snapshot, or sample, taken at the time of testing. Time-limited individual deals are not used as a reference; instead, we use the lowest price available from several reputable retailers. Let us take a look at the price-performance analysis, starting with rasterization:
We calculated the Radeon RX 9070 GRE's price-performance ratio at three price points: 450 euros, 500 euros, and its MSRP of 559 euros. The result is clear: 500 euros would be the absolute upper limit for a decent price-performance ratio. To truly live up to the "Great Radeon Edition" name, however, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE would have to cost 450 euros. The following chart shows whether the picture changes in ray tracing:
At the official MSRP of 549 euros, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE does not look bad, and yet it is still too expensive. The problem is that this is a graphics card that requires clear compromises in demanding games, partly because of its borderline memory capacity.
Radeon RX 9070 GRE: Conclusion 2026
The AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE is a graphics card that can deliver smooth and enjoyable gaming, no more and no less. Its primary goal of closing the large gap between the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB and the Radeon RX 9070 is achieved, but the Radeon RX 9070 GRE has several problems. The biggest one: The Geforce RTX 5070 is superior in every respect. Nvidia's card not only delivers slightly higher rasterization performance and far more usable ray tracing, but also wins in the secondary categories. These include optional Multi Frame Generation as well as media features such as 4:2:2 video decoding.
One drawback shared by both the Radeon RX 9070 GRE and the Geforce RTX 5070 is their borderline memory capacity. Without going over the topic yet again: 12-GiByte graphics cards are on notice, while their 8-GiByte counterparts are already down for the count. For more information on this evergreen subject, we recommend our VRAM advice pieces for Radeon and Geforce, as well as our Geforce RTX 5060 review. Anyone choosing a 12-GiByte graphics card must be prepared for a new game to exceed that capacity at any time, making targeted detail tuning necessary. With an RTX 5070, this should happen somewhat less often than with a Radeon RX 9070 GRE. With a 16-GiByte graphics card, these unwanted trips into the graphics menu are avoided entirely.
Radeon RX 9070 GRE: Impressionen aus dem Test
And yet the Radeon RX 9070 GRE does make sense. Its job is to make rising memory prices easier to absorb. If the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT soon become significantly more expensive, with prices of 700 to 800 euros being discussed, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE at around 550 euros becomes a valid option. At present, however, that is not the case. Our advice is therefore this: If you need a graphics card, it is better to buy one sooner rather than later, as prices are not expected to fall for the foreseeable future. Whether you choose a Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB from around 390 euros, a Geforce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB from around 530 euros, or a Radeon RX 9070 from around 550 euros is a question of budget and expectations. PCGH can recommend all three 16-GiByte graphics cards without reservation, although the AMD models offer the clearly better price-performance ratio.
