John Carmack sounds off against Microsoft and Sony
At Quakecon the famous developer was interviewed and talked about Microsoft's "fear” of Blu-Ray and additional development demanded by Sony.
1up.com com had the chance to make a 16 minutes interview with John Carmack at Quakecon. The programmer holds forth about Microsoft charging developers if their games need more than two DVDs. Accordingly Rage will be squeezed onto two DVDs only. That's where Sony comes in with the Blu-Ray.
Carmack talks about the advantages of this medium but at the same time criticizes Sony. The company demands that games that are ported to the Playstation 3 have to have additional content if they have been published for other platforms before.
Carmack thinks that Rage will run and look better on the Playstation 3 but nevertheless he likes the Xbox 360 even better, since id Software doesn't have to do any extra work.
