WoW: WotLK - Ultra Video Mode: Introduction
Although World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King already looks better than the original game Blizzard nevertheless took another step. As you can read in the Release Notes of Patch 3.1 the game has been visually upgraded.
• Added new Video Mode Ultra (should only be used on the highest-end systems).
• Shadow Quality has a new higher level of detail. The slider for adjusting Shadow Quality remains the same, though there is an additional step at the high end of the spectrum.
The Video Ultra Mode primarily increases the range of visibility as well as the density and the level of detail for the vegetation. A new option (projected textures) adds new shadows in the distance. All shadows will have a higher resolution.
