Language Bugs: Why Germans laugh about Wolfenstein
The FPS game Wolfenstein offers a lot of details aside from the gunfights. But although the developers tried their best, there nevertheless are some mistakes that are quite amusing, especially for Germans.
Raven Software's Wolfenstein is not only a shooter with a supernatural touch. Wolfenstein is also one of the games that have a lot of nice details which are not relevant for the gameplay but only for the atmosphere. Gamers that just rush through the levels trying to beat the game as fast as possible usually don't see those details - although they are worth looking at. Everywhere in the game there are propaganda posters and billboards for fictional products. The interior of many rooms has also been designed with a lot of effort. In combination with the collectible secret files it bears a lot of resemblance to the great No One Lives Forever (2000).
But since it is always difficult to deal with a foreign language the developers of Wolfenstein made some little mistakes that are quite amusing for people that speak German. Besides those there are also some glitches that are just funny in a strange way. In our gallery we present examples from Raven Software's game that make people, and especially German gamers, smile or reveal an impressive richness of details. Have fun with the many atmospheric details and the best language bugs in Wolfenstein.
