Windows 7: System Builder and OEM prices unveiled - Retail twice as expensive in some cases
The first System Builder and OEM versions of Windows 7 have been listed by European shops. In comparison to the retail version of the OS they are a lot cheaper.
Up to now only the prices for the full retail versions of Windows 7 have been known. But now several shops have listed the System Build or OEM version of Microsoft's forthcoming operating system.
According to the latest information the System Builder Edition of Windows 7 Home Premium is available for 88 Euros (32 and 64 Bit), while the appropriate retail version costs 116 Euros. Furthermore Microsoft is said to plan to increase the price for the Home Premium Edition in 2010.
The Windows 7 Professional System Builder Edition is listed for about 117 Euros and the retail version for about 280 Euros. Similar differences in pricing also apply to the maximized Windows 7 version, the Ultimate Edition. As System Builder version Ultimate costs about 160 Euros and the retail version is almost twice as expensive - 290 Euros.
