Windows 7 logo: Microsoft announces requirements for software developers
Microsoft is using the Windows logo for the new operating system Windows 7 again and reveals the first guidelines for software developers.
In order to receive the Windows 7 logo from Microsoft, software developers have to meet certain requirements. Currently this means that the programs are installing themselves in the correct order and that they work correctly in 32 bit and 64 bit environments. The programs also have to meet the requirements of the Windows user control panel. Digitally signed drivers are a must have, too.
According to a report from heise.de the Alpha version of the "Windows Logo Testing Kit” is available in the Microsoft Developer Blog - more details can be found via an xps file. This file can be easily opened on Windows Vista. If you want to use Windows XP you need to install the xps viewer and Microsoft's .NET Framework 3.0.
