Rumor: Microsoft is ready to lay off 17 % of staff
The rumor that Microsoft plans to cut jobs mid-January has already been known since last year. Now the staff of the software giant has allegedly been informed about the layoffs.
According to Fudzilla Microsoft will definitely lay off parts of its worldwide work force. 15,000 people of the about 90,000 employees are to be dismissed which is almost 17 percent of Microsoft's total staff.
It is unknown which departments and regions will be affected but rumors say that MSN might be hit the worst. Furthermore greater layoffs are to be expected at Microsoft EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
Fudzilla thinks dismissals in the Xbox 360 department to be unlikely since the console market has had an upturn recently.
It remains to be seen how Microsoft will finally proceed. Meanwhile Fudzilla has published more information about the layoffs.
