Corsair introduces new RAM water cooler
Cooling RAM down below ambient temperature? Corsair has introduced a new water cooler for the RAM modules of the Dominator series.
Today Corsair introduced a new cooling solution for the Dominator memory modules with DHX heatsink. The Corsair Hydro (H30) is a water block made of anodized aluminum that is placed on up to six Dominator (GT) modules.
But more interesting might be the new Corsair Cooling Ice Series (T30). It combines the water block of the H30 with a thermoelectric cooler - a Peltier element. With this Corsair wants to make cooling results below ambient temperature possible. Corsair is of course aware of the problems that could be caused by condensate that could occur if the water block gets cooler than the air temperature.
In order to prevent condensation the T30 is equipped with a control mechanism. Humidity, air temperature and the temperature of the memory are observed and the cooling is reduced if the memory temperature gets close to the dew point.
We are anxious to see if the extreme cooling solution will work out. But it won't be economical for sure since Peltier elements require a lot of energy. Currently the new cooling solutions are only available in the Corsair Shop. There the Hydro H30 costs about 60 Dollars while the Ice T30 is offered for 199 US-Dollars.
