Unreal Engine maxed out: Maps from the development kit reveal enhanced lighting
The UDK, Unreal Development Kit, offers several playable maps that demonstrate special lighting techniques. New screenshots now show enhanced graphics.
Epic Games recently released the January UDK Beta Kit, an up-to-date version of the Unreal Development Kit. The UDK is the free version of the Unreal Engine 3. With the January update come some playable maps that are supposed to demonstrate new lighting techniques and other enhancements.
According to the release notes the changes apply to the Decals. Decals are for example bullet holes in walls. Also new: Particle effects can now be bound to animated objects. Epic also fixed a bug that affected the lighting system.
