Star Trek Online: Wonderful space odyssey
The Open Beta of Star Trek Online has been launched and already delivered the first high quality impressions of the final frontier.
Fans don't a have to be patient for much longer before they can boldly go where no man has gone before. The Beta Phase of Star Trek Online is running and the final version is supposed to be finally released in early February, too. Even though the role-playing game has high requirements, the visual quality it delivers is very good for MMO standards. Especially in space with deactivated HUD Star Trek Online looks extremely impressive.
The screenshots in our gallery have been taken by the 3D Center users BeetleatWar1977 and Lurelein. Besides that we have also spend several hours in space ourselves and added some of the pictures we took during this journey. Have fun with the pictures!
Star Trek Online: Background
When talking to the developers, we learned that Star Trek Online is optimized for dual-core processors. DirectX 10 or DirectX 11 effects aren't used, too. FSAA or SSAA can be deactivated in the game options and you can change most graphics settings on the fly. The physics engine of the game is an in-house development that runs on the server and the client system simultaneously.
