Stalker: Call of Pripyat - DirectX 10 versus DirectX 9 comparison
What are the visual differences between the DirectX 9 and the DirectX 10 mode of Stalker: Call of Pripyat? PC Games Hardware got comparative pictures.
In November 2009 Stalker: Call of Pripyat will be published for the PC by Bitcomposer/Namcom Bandai. PC Games Hardware already had the chance to check the forthcoming game. On a PC with a Geforce GTX 285 and a Core 2 Quad Q9550 we took screenshots of the DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 modes at almost maximal details.
The most obvious differences are the better lighting and the better visualization of water effects. But it is not fully confirmed that the options in the game really had the desired effect. In Stalker: Clear Sky the differences had only been fine details - on our screenshots of Call of Pripyat it looks like the DirectX 9 mode does not offer possible dynamic lighting. Furthermore we didn't have a chance to check if Stalker: Call of Pripyat has a DirectX 10.1 render path like Clear Sky.
