In World in Conflict: Soviet Assault the war of the original game is told from the Russian point of view. We tested 10 graphics cards for their performance in the real-time strategy game.

With Soviet Assault Massive Entertainment extends the basic World in Conflict with some features and a new campaign: Instead of the NATO the player now commands the USSR. The add-on and the original game are available as a Complete Edition; the expansion can be bought separately, too, of course.

Not only the Russian campaign is new, but also some additional effects of the DX10 engine: The construct can now for example deal with more debris that is flying around - thus the combats are even more explosive than in the main game. The integrated performance test of World in Conflict is included again. This benchmark is a stress test for the whole system - the framerate is normally higher in the game itself. Since we don't have an appropriate savegame, we use integrated sequence for our test this time and take the average result of two runs. In our gallery you can find several screenshots of the World in conflict: Soviet Assault benchmark which have been taken at a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 with maximal details plus 4x TSSAA and 16:1 HQ AF.
Regardless of its age the World in conflict engine is still up-to-date in graphical matters - and proves to be an appropriate challenge for the hardware. If you want to play smoothly in DX10 mode without MSAA/AF you need a graphics card like the HD 3870 or the 9600 GT at least. If you activate 4x MSAA and 16:1 AF, you should have a HD 4870 or a GTX 260-192.
