Duke Nukem developer 3D Realms is closing down - the end for Duke Nukem Forever?
The news is spreading like wildfire: 3D Realms, developer of the Duke Nukem series and currently Duke Nukem Forever, has to close its gates.
Will Duke Nukem Forever be the stairway wit of the gaming history? Now that the game has been under development for more than twelve years, the developer studio 3D Realms apparently has to close down.
It has been a rumor up to now, but now it becomes reality: 3D Relams is shutting down. Joe Siegler, Webmaster at 3D Realms was speaking up in the 3D Relams Forums. "It's not a marketing thing. It's true. I have nothing further to say at this time”, he said with relating to the rumors. Take 2, the possible publisher of Duke Nukem Forever announced that the company still has the publishing rights. Furthermore there hadn't been continuous financial support for 3D Realms said Alan Lewis Take 2's Vice President of Communications. What will happen with the already existing code of Duke Nukem Forever is still unclear. Only recently 3D Relams boss George Broussard announced that another milestone in the development of the game had been reached.
The development of the Duke Nukem Trilogy for handhelds that is currently carried out by Apogee and Deep Silver is said to be not affected by the shutdown of 3D Realms.
