Games of the year 2008: Role-playing games
Fallout 3, Mass Effect or Lich King - 2008 spawned several high-class games. So which titles are the 10 best RPGs of the year?
In order to make the decision easier, we didn't just rely on our own impressions and experiences, but also took a look at metacritics.com. This site gathers ratings and critics about games and thus forms a good base for investigations about the overall popularity of a game.
The apocalyptic RPG Fallout 3 unsurprisingly takes the lead in this category, followed by the WoW add-on Wrath of the Lich King. With Mass Effect Bioware gets the Bronze Medal. The fourth place is also occupied by an add-on - Mines of Moria, the first extension for Lord of the Rings Online. Warhammer Online, the conversion of a tabletop game and The Witcher Enhanced Edition, which is based on the books written by Andrzej Sapkowski, also reached high ratings. Next are Age of Conan, a graphically convincing and rather brutal title, and Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir - the third add-on in the top 10 - followed by Sacred 2 and Chronicles of Spellborn, which has finally been released after a long time of development.
