Doom 3: New mod with ultra high-res textures
Modder Rygel, known for his Crysis texture mods and the Extreme Quality Mod for doom 3, is currently working on new high-res textures for Doom 3.
Kai "Rygel” Hutter is working on new textures for the aged shooter Doom 3. The screenshots that have been published up to now are quite impressive and were taken without any other modification of the game.
The textures have a noticeably higher resolution thus walls and floors in the rather sparse indoor levels of Doom 3 appear more vividly and detailed than before. Even the hands and weapons are more realistic. A release date for the new textures has not been announced yet. We will keep you up to date and present some comparison pictures and screenshots with the new high-res textures (which are of course Work in Progress).
What do you think of the textures? Is there a need for such projects that revive older games with higher visual quality? Tell us what you think.
