Uber Pano shots of ArmA 2, Stalker, Crysis and Bound in Blood
In photography they are quite popular and in games they are even more impressive: Extreme Panorama shots with aspect ratios up to 10:1. PC Games Hardware presents some amazing and well done examples.
Widescreen resolutions are common features for modern PC games, while extreme widescreen or surround gaming modes are rarer. But there always is someone to take another step and the users ElfenLied77, Burns, ThoR65 and roadgecko of our German forum regularly create huge panorama screenshots with extreme aspect ratios. Depending on the original resolution and how many pictures are used the results can reach aspect ratios of up to 5:1 or even 10:1.
ElfenLied77 for example uses 4 to 6 screenshots taken at 1920 x 1200 and combines them with common panorama tools like Autostitch (see the Autostich website for a free trial version). For final editing tools like GIMP or Photoshop are used. Sometimes up to 70 shots are merged into a new picture and some games even support appropriate screenshot functions.
PC Games Hardware has already reported about extreme widescreen pictures or surround gaming screenshot.
