FIFA 10 launch breaks sales records: 1.7 million copies in the first week
EA attest the new FIFA 10 a brilliant launch. The game is even said to have set a new record in the company's history.
PC Games Hardware has already reported about Electronic Arts' latest edition of FIFA. Unfortunately the PC users have been disadvantaged because the developers focus on the console platforms and the graphics on the PC have not been upgraded appropriately.
Nevertheless the launch seems to have been successful. Electronic Arts announced that in the first week after the release more than 1.7 million copies were sold. This makes FIFA 10 the most successful game in the sports genre and the best European launch in the history of EA Sports.
"We were confident that FIFA 10 would be a hit, and this week fans across Europe have shown just how much they love this game. We are incredibly proud of FIFA 10 and this kick-off for great, authentic football competition.” (Peter Moore, President of EA Sports)
It is said that more than 10 million online matches have been played since FIFA 10 was released. The highest number of players that were online at the same time exceeds 155,000 people.
