With these actions the company wants to save 120 million US-Dollar per year, but because of the reorganization EA will have to face additional costs of 55 to 65 million US-Dollar.
The company wants to close down nine departments, Black Box being the most prominent among them. The studio recently was participating in the production of the Need for Speed series. All franchises of EA Black Box will be continued by the studio in Burnaby.
According to a report at golem.de EA also wants to reduce the product portfolio in favor of games with potentially bigger margins of profit and also wants to take "creative risks”.
