Crytek: Features of the Cryengine 3 explained
Only recently Crytek introduced the Cryengine 3. Now the new construct is explained in detail.
The Cryengine 3 is the successor of the famous Cryengine 2 which provided the base for the impressive graphical possibilities of Crysis and Crysis Warhead as well as the innumerable modifications for the games. Now Crytek delivers some details of the features offered by the Cryengine 3. In contrast to the previous versions the new engine will be a multiplatform development and thus can be used for PC, Playstation3 and Xbox 360 games.
At the Game Developer Conference (GDC) in San Francisco Crytek released video material showing the Cryengine 3 in action. Below the video and on the following pages you can find Crytek's introduction and explanations of features that are provided by the new engine.
