Ultima: From 1981 to Ultima Online - game classics in series
In the PC gaming world the Ultima series could be called the primordial soup for the RPG and Fantasy genre. We take a look at the roots back in 1981 until the MMORPG of 2006.
Game classics in series: Ultima 9: Ascension, 1999 (Picture: Mobygames.com). For now the last official game with an own “serial number” – optically and technically a very up to date presentation.
Thanks to the charismatic developer personality Richard Garriott - better known under the pseudonym "Lord British” - the Ultima series was good for a fresh breeze in the RPG genre again and again.
But after Ultima 9: Ascension from the year 1999 and the umpteenth rehash of Ultima Online in 2006, things have calmed down around the game classic. That is surely due to the fact that Ultima inventor Garriott lately got talked about because of his weak "Tabula Rasa” and his space flight to the ISS instead of reviving Ultima.
What do you think of the genre prime father? Do you also have memories about former Ultima experiences or don't you get anything out of the series? We are looking forward to any comment about this topic.
