Retro Special: The most important game consoles from 1972 until today - Update
At the Gamescom not only new games are presented but very old ones as well: At the Retro Gaming exhibition in hall 6 visitors could see consoles from Odyssey to Dreamcast.
A long time before Xbox, Wii, Playstation and even PCs existed people could connect gaming consoles to their televisions. This technology was invented 40 years ago and in 1972 the first console was available at the retailers. This device called Magnavox Odyssey was only one of many gaming consoles that are presented at the Gamescom.
PC Games Hardware visited the exhibition and presents the best exhibits in the picture gallery - among them is the first handheld, the only German console and the biggest flop. Have lots of fun during your journey to the past.
Update August 26, 2009: Home computers Thanks to PCGHX user D!str(+)yer we can show you more than 20 pictures of home PCs such as Commodore Amiga, C64, Atari and many more retro PCs.
