Id Software's Rage without Dedicated Servers?
The forthcoming action game Rage will probably be another title that doesn't support dedicated servers. John Carmack himself revealed this piece of information just recently.
After Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, id's forthcoming Rage might be the next game in the genre that won't deliver support for dedicated servers. Id's John Carmack recently unveiled plans of the developers according to which the game isn't going to support the popular multiplayer feature.
"It's not cast in stone yet, but at this point no, we don't think we will have dedicated servers," he said recently.
"The great thing is we won't have to be a pioneer on that [...] We'll see how it works out for everyone else.”
The developers are not quite sure about the support for dedicated servers, but it is almost certain that Rage won't offer the feature. And according to what Carmack told Variety, he is also quite comfortable with the fact that, due to Modern Warfare 2, id Software is not the first studio that did the cut.
What do you think about John Carmack's statement? Do you mind the missing of dedicated servers? Or do you think this development will stop as soon as the gamers show their anger? Tell us in the comments.
