Samsung introduces first 32 GiB DDR3 memory module
Faster, bigger and lower power consumption - that is what Samsung promises for its new 4 Gigabit memory chips which are produced in 50 nm and will be built on the new 32 Gigabyte DDR3 RAM.
Already in January Samsung announced its new 50 nm memory chips with 4 Gigabit and at that time the manufacturer specified reduction of 40 % concerning power consumption and improved performance of 20 % in comparison to present DDR3 RAM.
74 chips will work on the new 32 GiByte memory module at 1.35 Volt. Are you already dreaming of having this new powerful RAM in your home computer? Then you have to be patient since the RAM is made for servers only. But Samsung seems to work on 8 GiByte DDR3 modules for laptops (SO-SIMM) and desktops (DIMM). Pricing and availability of the 32 GiByte server RAM giant have not been announced yet.
