PES 2010: Graphics comparison, high-res screenshots and performance estimation
Pro Evolution Soccer, aka PES 2010, offers appealing graphics without exaggerated system requirements. PC Games Hardware offers a comparison between minimal and maximal details as well as high-res screenshots.
As usual for sports games the system requirements of PES 2010 are quite moderate, even with an Athlon 64 3200+ and a Radeon HD 3870 the game is running at 1920 x 1200 pixels and maximal details with smooth 63 frames per second - more fps (locked maxim) or higher resolutions are not offered in PES 2010 anyway. If you use single core CPU the game might lag in certain situations, but this doesn't happen anymore as soon as a second core is available. Although minimal and maximal details don't differ too much, the game engine is able to prove its 3D capabilities at maximal quality - especially in comparison to competitor FIFA 10.
The dynamic light and shadows deliver a realistic illumination and the game is very lively due to Depth of Field and Motion Blur as well as neat animations. But the highlight of the engine are the players: High resolution textures make faces and hair authentic, details like porosities or stubbles are visible and the facial expressions are convincing in almost every situation. The realization of cloth, especially the different materials of the jerseys, is very good. Besides that PES 2010 offers Anti Aliasing on high details.
