New 8 inch Sony notebook
Sony's Vaio P series notebooks offer dimensions known from the netbook section, but are actually aimed at the technology and design oriented customers.
A special, and most interesting, feature is the 8 inch display. It has LED background lighting and offers the exceptional resolution of 1,600 x 768 pixels. The CPU is an Intel device with 1.33 GHz, possibly the Atom Z520 with 512 KiByte L2 cache and 2 watt TDP.
Besides a 60 GB hard drive customers can upgrade to a 128 GB SSD, too. The P series is equipped with 2 GiByte DDR2-RAM and offers a card reader compatible to SD and MMC cards as well as the Memorystick Pro.
The battery of the Sony Vaio P lasts up to four hours and a high large capacity battery extends the runtime up to eight hours. Sony specified a power consumption of 68 watt. Windows Vista Home Premium or Home Basic in the 32 bit versions are available as operating system. The compate Vaio P devices can be preordered in Onyx Black, Garnet Red, Emerald Green or Crystal White. Depending on the components the price starts at 899.99 US-Dollars.
