Alienware M17x: Gamer Notebook pictured
The new Alienware M17x gaming notebook reached the PC Games Hardware office and wants to flex its muscles - we received a sample with an Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 at 2.8 GHz and an Nvidia Geforce GTX 260M.
The M17x has on the one hand an integrated Geforce 9400M which is used as an energy efficient desktop graphics card, but on the other hand the laptop also has a Geforce GTX 260M that can increase the gaming performance dramatically. Our sample has to be rebooted when we switch between the two cards.
We got our Alienware M17x with the following configuration:
• Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 with 2.8 GHz (6 MiByte cache; 1,066 MHz FSB)
• Single Nvidia Geforce GTX 260M with 1 GiByte VRAM
• 17 inch Wide XGA+ with 1,440 x 900 pixels
• 4 GiByte Dual Channel DDR3-1333 RAM
• 250 GiByte 7,200 rpm with Free Fall Protection
• Slot Load DL DVD writer
This is almost the same configuration as the default setup of the M17x, which costs about 2,000 Euros. But there are additional options that can increase the performance, like two SLIed Geforce GTX 280M and an Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad QX9300 with 2.53 GHz. We will put the Alienware M17x to the test. Pictures of the notebook can be found in our gallery below.
