While netbooks like the Eee PCs are distributed with Windows XP or Linux at the moment, Asus plans to skip Vista and go right to Windows 7.

According to Asus CEO Jerry Shen, Eee PCs will be delivered with pre-installed Windows 7 from mid-2009. ”We don’t plan on putting Vista on any of the Eee PCs. I think in the future in the second half of next year we will put Windows 7 on Eee PCs. For now it will be Linux and XP and then Windows 7 and not do Vista”, he said in an interview with Laptopmag.
This statement is quite surprising since currently netbooks are equipped with Intel Celeron or Atom processors, which aren’t the most powerful CPUs actually. Thus Xbitlabs conjectures that a mobile version of the operating system will be developed.
