Asus Eee PC: Possible price reduction and new Linux model Eee PC 900A
Golem reports that Asus plans to lower the prices of the older Eee PCs with the release of the Eee PC 901, which is said to take place on August 18.
The Asus Eee PC 901 is said to be released on Monday (picture: PCGH)Furthermore there is said to be another technically identical netbook with the name Eee PC 900A that will have a Linux version installed instead of Windows XP. Both devices are said to be based on Intel's Diamondville platform and have an Intel Atom CPU with 1.6 GHz and a 945GME chipset.
The 8.9 inch display will have a resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels. Data can be stored on a SSD - available in 4 or 8 GiByte. With €299 the Eee PC 900A will be much cheaper than the Eee PC 901 (€379), but customers won't get the new design since the Eee PC 900A will look like the Eee PC 900. The available colors are black and white.
