Microsoft licensed Havok physic engine
Golem reports that Microsoft made a license agreement with Havok. All future games are said to use the middleware of Intel's subsidiary.
From now on the Microsoft Game Studios can use Havok Physics for their future games. Three titles with the engine are said to be released soon. Up to now there is no information if Microsoft will integrate an own interface for physics into DirectX.
This takes the battle between the physics interfaces to a new level. While AMD, Microsoft and Intel use the Havok engine and can run it on their own GPUs or CPUs, Nvidia is the only one to use Physx. Of course Nvidia could use Havok-FX - the GPU accelerated version of Havok - but nevertheless they will have a hard time because their own product isn't spread that far.
