Max Payne 3 with GTA 4 Engine?
Just recently new details about Max Payne 3 became available. Now there are rumors that the game will be based on the same engine as GTA 4.
The scans of a Gameinformer magazine revealing new details about Max Payne 3 caused quite a stir around the fans of the action series. Up to now it had been said that Max Payne now works for a security company in Sao Paulo (Brazil) and is addicted to Painkillers.
Furthermore the latest rumors say that the Bullet Time, which had been one of the key features of the previous parts, is now more brutal than before - so the game is most likely to get mature ratings by the stricter rating boards (e.g. in Germany). Another new feature allows Max to take cover behind objects in order to evade enemy fire. The atmosphere is said to be made more realistic and fitting by time of day changes.
Although Rockstar hasn't officially revealed details about the technology behind Max Payne 3 rumors now say that the game will be based on the proprietary Rage Engine. This piece of software is already used for GTA 4 as well as Red Dead Revolver and is said to reach the graphics quality of Remedy's Max Payne 2. In the PC version of GTA 4 especially the huge draw distance caused performance problems though and Anti Aliasing isn't working. So we are anxious to see if the technical problems of GTA 4 will also affect Max Payne 3 if it is really based on the Rage Engine.
