Mass Effect 2 coming in spring 2010 to PC and Xbox 360 - Update
Electronic Arts confirmed the development of Mass Effect 2 by Bioware. The second part of the Sci-Fi trilogy is scheduled to be release in spring 2010 for PC and the Xbox 360.
It has been common knowledge that Electronic Arts and Bioware are working on Mass Effect sequel. But the information that Mass Effect 2 is supposed to be released to the PC and the Xbox 360 in spring 2010.
The Mass Effect trilogy is a Science Fiction epic taking place in a vast universe full of alien life forms and unexplored planets. In the dark second chapter the Geth have been just defeated, but mankind - still trying to assert itself in the universe - is threatened by even bigger dangers.
According to Dr. Ray Muzyka, General Manager and CEO at Bioware, the developers want to top the extraordinary gaming experience the players know from the Mass Effect by improving the combat system and offering enhanced weapon options as well as a better planet exploration. Furthermore the plot is also said to be strong and thrilling. Mass Effect 2 is evolving into a memorable RPG Shooter experience full of plot twists and relentless action.

New details about Mass Effect 2 reached the fans via OXM (Official Xbox Magazine). In the sequel to Mass Effect you will be once again play as Commander Sheppard, but it has not been revealed for how long the main character of part one will be your personification. The Cerberus Corporation is getting more attention this time. Locations, characters and weapons from part one will also appear again in the sequel. With the Drell a new race is introduced that can also be integrated into your team: Thane is an assassin. New locations will be available, too. Among them are Illium (a Asari plant with dense population), a Krogan star and a Cerberus outpost.
Bioware will also alter the gameplay. Decisions of the player will have a bigger effect on the story and even important support characters can die. Furthermore the developers want to give more depth to the races that aren't in the focus of the game. The washy handling of the Mako are said to be history - more vehicles are supposed to benefit from this development.
The user interface of the game is overhauled. According to OXM Bioware has redesigned the inventory. The loading screens which have been represented by elevators in Mass effect will be replaced by a traveling system. Bioware is apparently a end for Mass Effect 2 that is even bigger than the one in Mass Effect 1.
In technical matters Bioware wants to improve the LoD in order to prevent objects popping out into existence. The streaming of textures is also said to be adjusted and made smoother. At eh E3 Bioware wants to deliver additional details.
