MSi present motherboards with eight memory slots - DDR2 or DDR3 on AM3 and socket 775 boards possible
The socket 775 motherboard P45-8D and the AM3 board 790GX-8D both have four DDR2 and four DDR3 memory slots. Thus the 790GX-8D is compatible to AMD's new AM3 processors with DDR2 or DDR3 RAM as well as AM2+ CPUs with DDR2 memory.
As the names of the motherboards indicate, the socket 775 version is equipped with Intel's P45 chipset while the AM3 board has AMD's 790GX chip. Both boards got the nickname "Memory Lover” and have MSI's high quality voltage converters - called "Dr Mos” - as well as the power saving technology APS. Officially they are specified for DDR3 -1066. The 790GX-8D offers a onboard control dial that allows overclockers to increase the frequencies on the fly.
