MSI (finally) introduces the BIOS successor EFI to P45 boards
Owners of Apple computers with an Intel processor were already able to receive the benefits of the Extensible Firmware Interface - EFI - for quite some time. Now MSI, as the first motherboard producer, releases the overdue BIOS replacement to the PC, too.
Actually announced for the P35 Neo 3 board with Intel's P35 chipset, the P45D3 Platinum now is equipped with the so-called "Click BIOS”. It is based on the UEFI standard and delivers, in addition to an interface similar to Windows, things like an embedded network module for remote maintenance, support for different languages as well as the possibility to use several applications like media players or web browsers even before the Windows startup. See our picture gallery for some impressions of MSI's Click BIOS.
Who wants to have a shot at the BIOS alternative and take a closer look at it, will find additional information right here. MSI wants to release the Click BIOS for P45 Diamond and Platinum boards next month. Possibly the producer gets the ball rolling and other companies might retire the old BIOS - which is in use since 1981.
