Mafia 2 compared to Real Life and GTA 4 Liberty City
The fictitious City in Mafia 2, Empire Bay, has many parallels to New York. Liberty City, the city where GTA 4 takes place, has the same model in our real world. PC Games Hardware compared some snapshots from the same angle that have been taken by Vito Scaletta, Nico Bellic and an actual person.
In 2008, we've been able to compare the Times Square at night rendered in GTA 4 to the real one "rendered” with a camera. The resemblance was amazing. Now that Mafia 2 came out, New York has been captured in wireframes and textures, once more.
Empire Bay, Liberty City and New York checked against each other. Although Mafia 2 is set in the 1940s and ‘50s, common houses or sights such as the Brooklyn Bridge are worth a comparison, since we want to know how close the gamer is to actually going on a trip to the Big Apple.
