Mafia 2 technical details revealed
With Mafia 1 being one of the most popular titles of the past years, the expectations for Mafia 2 are quite high. Now some more information about the gangster game was revealed.
When Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven was released in 2002 the game became extremely popular because of the impressive graphics and the quality of the story which apparently adopts ideas from Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas. Mafia 2 has been announced and is supposed to be released in early 2010. Roman Hladik, art director of developer 2K Czech, has revealed new details to CGSociety.
According to the given information the developers tried to create a game with an atmosphere which is on the same level as the one of Mafia 1. Furthermore the game is based on completely new technological base since it would not have been achievable with already available engines, says Hladik. In order to make Mafia 2 feel and look like life had felt in the 1950s, the time the game is set in, the responsible people at 2K Czech have also made great effort to capture the mood of that time.
One of the most impressive features of Mafia 2 is, according to the interview at CGSociety, besides the impressive cinematic like cutscenes, the animation of the characters' faces that adds to the overall atmosphere of the game.
