EKL announces Alpenföhn Nordwand with five 8 mm heatpipes
EKL announces another CPU cooler of its Alpenföhn series called Nordwand which relies on Direct Touch Heatpipes. The cooler is said to offer a better performance than the Groß Clock'ner and Brocken.
For heat dissipation from the CPU the EKL Alpenföhn Nordwand uses five heatpipes with 8 millimeters diameter each and direct contact to the CPU surface and heat spreader respectively. According to the manufacturer the size of the cooler is 131 x 95 x 155 millimeters. EKL does not specify the weight or any details about the fixing which will probably be done via screw connection.
Due to a special design of the aluminum fins the air of the 120 mm propeller is said to stream especially well over the cooler surface and therefore provides an optimized heat transport. According to the manufacturer instructions the fan with a maximum of 0.14 A runs with 800 to 1,500 revolutions per minute and moves an air flow of 80.91 CFM.
The visual highlight of the Alpenföhn Nordwand is the black nickel-plated aluminum of the cooling fins. The CPU cooler is supposedly available as from the 36th calendar week at a recommended retail price of 49.90 Euro.
Currently the Alpenföhn products are available in Europe only, but as we mentioned in our review of the Alpenföhn Heidi VGA cooler, EKL is planning to supply the American market soon.
