Lost Planet 2: Xbox 360 exclusive just at launch?
After Lost Planet 2 had been officially announced the question aroused if the game permanently stayed Xbox 360 exclusive. PC Games Hardware asked Capcom.
PC gamers and PS3 owners have one thing in common: Both have to do without Lost Planet 2 for the present. The focus is on "for the present” since Capcom does not confirm a permanent exclusiveness for Microsoft's console. We asked Capcom if Lost Planet 2 will also be released for PC and the answer was "no comment”. Other websites got the same answer as well.
There is only one conclusion why Capcom remains mute: The exclusiveness for the Xbox 360 is only temporary since Capcom develops games on the PC and then adapts them for games consoles. That is common practice for Capcom's multi-platform engine. Furthermore Capcom confirmed last year that all important games will be released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in the upcoming fiscal year. At least that is the case for Street Fighter 4.
If Lost Planet 2 will be as technically outstanding as its predecessor Lost Planet 1 is only speculation. Lost Planet: Colonies, an add-on for Lost Planet 1, provided a Direct X 10 render path with fur shader, DX10 shadows and DX10 motion blur. In our gallery first screenshots of Lost Planet 2 can be found.
