Western Digital: 2 TByte hard drive officially introduced
Western Digital's latest Caviar Green hard drive offers a capacity of 2 Terabyte.
The WD Caviar Green 2 TB reaches its capacity with four 500 GByte platters; the cache is 32 MByte big. The data density of the ED Caviar Green 2 TB is 400 GBit per square inch. The hard drive is said to cost 299 Euros.
The 2 TByte hard drive is equipped with the "StableTrac” technology. This is a double fixation of the engine that is supposed to improve the directional stability of the Read/Write heads and to lower unwanted vibrations.
PC Games Hardware recently reported that Western Digital was supposed to introduce a 2 TByte hard drive.
