2 Terabyte hard drives possibly under way
In the Czech Republic the first 2 Terabyte hard drive from Western Digital has been listed in an online shop. WD themselves did not announce such a device up to now.
In order to reach a capacity of 2 Terabyte, five platters with 400 Gigabyte each would be necessary - a higher data density is rather unlikely since current hard drives are equipped with a platter size of 375 Gigabyte.
The Western Digital device is part of the Caviar Green Series with 32 MiByte cache and "5,400 to 7,200” revolutions per minute.
