The reading speed of OCZ's Vertex 2 is said to reach up to 550 MB/s, while the SSD can write with up to 480 MB/s depending on the size of the transferred file. The performance is said to be reached with an internal quad-Raid setup.
The Vertex 2 is supposed to copy a 20GByte file within 41.66 seconds. In order to use the OCZ SSD to its full capabilities a SATA 2.0 interface is not sufficient. For transfer rates above 300 MB/s SATA 3.0 is required.
The OCZ Vertex 2 will hit the market in Q1 2009 around Cebit, says Fudzilla.
