Negotiations between Microsoft and Yahoo continue
Microsoft and Yahoo are again talking about cooperation. Last week the company CEOs Carol Bartz und Steve Ballmer are supposed to have met - if the meeting was a success is not known.
Rumors say that Microsoft and Yahoo continue their partnership negotiations concerning internet searching and internet advertisement. According to the Wall Street Journal Carol Bartz, Yahoo CEO, and Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO, had a meeting. If the meeting was successful remains unknown, however.
The industry looks upon the talks between Microsoft and Yahoo very favorably. At the moment companies would rather aim for partnerships than expensive takeovers.
Furthermore Microsoft and Yahoo are supposed to negotiate about a Social Network with Demand Media. The strength of the self-proclaimed market leader is said to be having good advertising contacts.
Yahoo is still troubled by last year's takeover battle: The shares heavily dropped and the resulting financial burden affected the revenue. Yahoo is said to have invested 79 million US dollar for defending the takeover. At that time Microsoft offered 40 billion US dollar for the internet company which was rejected by Yahoo. Microsoft will not go for a further takeover approach but a partnership is still under consideration.
