Data stolen from PricewaterhouseCoopers: Online payment services targeted
The ZDF business magazine WISO reports that 56,000 email addresses and passwords appeared on a Chinese web server. Most of them come from the PwC database.
Do you know who has access to your data?
With dhose data sets, consisting of email addresses and passwords, the thieves tried to access online payment services like Click&Buy or Moneybookers. It seems like they speculated, that people often use the same password for several web offers.
According to WISO the source of the data is a databank for aspirants which could be accessed via the website of PricewaterhouseCooper (PwC). The database was maintained by the service provider High-End Communications GmbH.
In the meantime PwC informed all persons possibly concerned and a hotline was set up. Additional information can be found at the WISO homepage.
