Google Mail goes offline: Problems caused downtime
Only recently the lights of Google Mail went out: According to latest reports the Frontend of the email service took a break. The email server itself doesn't seem to be affected though.
Web access to Google Mail had not been possible for about one hour today. Those who wanted to read their mails via the web interface couldn't do so. It seems like the Frontend of the service wasn't available worldwide.
Officially there are no statements about the incident. Emails are apparently not affected: POP3 and IMAP access is still working. The support website of Google Mail says, that the problem should be solved now and that access has been restored.
