25 percent less exhibitors: Cebit struggles with worldwide economic situation
The economic situation is tense: Companies announce low figures for the financial quarters and the Deutsche Messe AG expects that 25 percent less exhibitors will be on site at the Cebit.
Even the biggest ICT trade fair, the Cebit, has to suffer from the international economic crisis. For 2009 all in all 25 percent less exhibitors and five percent less visitors are expected by the Deutsche Messe AG.
Many companies announced in advance that they won't be on the Cebit this year. The most famous of them is probably AMD. But there are some more cuts: Less Esport, fewer babes and less case modding.
According to the press release the hosts hope that the Cebit 2009 "is sending a signal to buck the international crisis mentality”. Nevertheless some big companies like Toshiba, Samsung and the already mentioned AMD won't be among the 4,300 exhibitors.
PC Games Hardware will of course be on the site in Hannover and provide firsthand information from the Cebit 2009.
