Firefox: Mozilla's browser plug-in shall monitor the user
Mozilla's Firefox developers are working on a browser add-on which is supposed to monitor the consumer behavior of internet surfers.
Firefox developers want to gain more user information.
The plug-in "Test Pilot” is supposed to monitor the surf behavior of Firefox users on a voluntary basis. The plug-in for the Firefox browser shall collect information about other used plug-ins, data about the consumer behavior and demographical data such as place of residence.
Mozilla's developer Aza Raskin justifies this step with the necessity to know how people are using their product and the web. The project behind "Test Pilot” is still in the planning stage at the moment.
Mozilla will not collect information about the visited websites. The source code of the plug-in will be published in order to check which data the browser add-on is collecting. As Winfuture reports the Firefox developers aim to reach a one percent participant quota of all users and want to publish the gained results in the web.
