AMD shows Ray tracing tech demos
Tomshardware reports, that AMD published two Youtube videos, which show their Voxel based rendering technology.
The first clip shows the already known Ruby tech demo, which was presented at the launch of the RV770. The Ray tracing sequence is only a few seconds long, but runs very smooth. For the rest of the video Jules Urbach explains the technical background.
The second clip shows an interview with Jules Urbach about a week after the first video. Here Urbach explains technical aspects of the OTOY and Lightscape technologies with a rendered face. The system in use contains an AMD Phenom 9950 on a 790FX motherboard. The graphics output is handled by a Radeon HD 4870.
