Hemlock shown by AMD: Possibly HD 5870 X2?
AMD apparently wants to offer the Radeon HD h870 as a dual GPU version. A system with a Hemlock graphics card has been pictured.
Rumors have said that there will be dual GPU versions of the recently released Radeon HD 5800 series. Besides the already mentioned HD 5870 X2 - the name has not been confirmed by AMD yet - there will probably be an X2 version of the HD 5850, too.
A first demo system which was probably equipped with a HD 5850 X2, was shown to vr-zone.com by AMD. Given the collected data the card is estimated to be about 30 centimeters long. The Catalyst Control Center revealed clock speeds of 725 MHz (GPU) and 1,000 MH (memory). This indicates a solution with two 5850 GPUs. Up to now final specifications have not been revealed. The system was running a demo version of the DX11 game Aliens vs. Predator. In his post the author at vr-zone.com apologizes for the low quality of the pictures which were taken with the camera of a mobile phone.
Techpowerup.com also posted pictures of an appropriate graphics card, which is supposed to be a HD 5870 X2. As you can see on the pictures, the card has one 6-pin and one 8-pin power connector. Furthermore the dual GPU card is a little long than the default single GPU HD 5870 - which has two 6-pin power connectors.
