Nvidia: New games with GPU accelerated Physx
Nvidia has announced that more games will be utilizing GPU accelerated Physx effects. Among those titles are: Terminator Salvation, Dark Void and Darkest Days.
Nvidia was able to convince further game developers to use the GPU acceleration of the Physx Engine. Terminator Salvation, Dark Void and Darkest Days will utilize Physx and its GPU acceleration. Thus Nvidia graphics cards (Geforce 8 series and newer) will receive performance and quality benefits in those games.
Terminator Salvation will be released on May 21, 2009. The Third Person action Adventure takes place in the year 2016 and is said to deliver Physx based weapon effects and destructible environment. Dark Void is scheduled for fall 2009 and is supposed to use GPU Physx for weapon and debris effects. Darkest Days is a time travel game and the First Person Shooter is also planned for fall 2009. In several historical battles GPU Physx is supposed to be used in order to simulate destructible environment, realistic Flora and Fauna as well as wind, fog, smoke Vulcan ash and snow.
Sega also announced that the development studios all over the world will use the Physx technology. In our picture gallery below you can find screenshots of the mentioned games. Currently we cannot estimate how the Physx effects will look like or how good the CPU fallback will be.
