Ati Radeon HD 5870 - Eyefinity feature review at WSGF
With the Radeon HD 5870 AMD introduced the Ati Eyefinity multi-display technology. Our colleagues of the Widescreen Gaming forum have created a review that focuses on this special feature.
In course of the launch of AMD's Ati Radeon HD 5870 the graphics card manufacturer also introduced several new technologies and features. Among them was for example the Ati Eyefinity. This multi-display technology allows the user of the HD 5000 series to connect up to three monitors to a single card and use the combined screen space. This makes it possible to play games at extreme widescreen or surround resolutions.
As the name indicates the widescreen Gaming Forum is focused on the topic of widescreen and surround resolutions in games. Now Ibrin, chief of the website, published a review of the Radeon HD 5870 and the Ati Eyefinity technology in detail (ATI Radeon 5870 1GB - Featured Review). He dealt with the basic installation procedure and the setup procedure in the Catalyst Control Center. Besides the advantages of the feature he also brings up several things that give AMD room for improvements like the bezel management and the insufficient amount of VRAM on currently available Eyefinity graphics cards. To give an impression of the performance provided by such a surround gaming setup there are also several benchmarks with Far Cry 2 and Half-Life 2.
