TSMC: Current crisis in chip industry ends in three years
IT industry has to deal with the current financial situation. But according to TSMC boss Morris Chang the market will recover in three years.
The worldwide financial situation is tense and this affects the IT industry. The big chip manufacturers reported about record losses in the expired quarter and Qimonda even had to file for bankruptcy. Even contract manufacturer TSMC has to deal with the crisis. But Morris Chang, boss of the company, see a like at the end of the tunnel and thinks that industry will recover in three years.
The semiconductor industry would have passed the bottom but needs time to regenerate the turnovers said Morris Chang - according to the Wall Street Journal. In 2012 the level should equal 2008. The forecasts of several market observers that say the market will recover in 2009 already are quite optimistic.
